A one day workshop for kids with Potter Carolyn Shed is scheduled for Saturday, December 20, from 10:00 a.m. until noon. During this workshop, students in grades one and older will learn the basics of pottery and create a diorama using “Covered Bridge”, an oil on canvas painting, as inspiration. This work, by American Impressionist George Gardner Symons, is part of the museum’s collection. Techniques such as creating pinch pots, coiling, slab-building, texturizing, and attaching decorative elements will be taught. “Covered Bridge” provides limitless options for clay creations – trees, streams, bridges, wildlife, elements of nature and more! Students will underglaze their pieces and leave them to be kiln fired. Snack and drink provided. The cost is $45 plus $5 materials fee. Registration is at (781) 934-6634, extension 10
