Waiting for Cohasset PD to announce mistaken arrest

Bill QuigleyWhen will the Cohasset PD announce that the search is on again for the “newspaper delivery man” who tried to lure a young girl into his automobile on March 26th?

Acting chief Bill Quigley was quick to post the man’s photo and name and particulars all over his Police Facebook and Web sites. The Cohasset Mariner lauded Cohasset PD for its superb investigation.

Well, it was the wrong guy, so a dangerous man is still on the loose. Why no information about this on the Cohasset Police web page or the Cohasset Police Facebook site, or Citizens for a Safe Cohasset site? when will School Supt. Barbara Caltado weigh in on this – writing a letter to families?

Should not police be informing citizens of this?

According to the Patriot Ledger and myriad news sources, Norfolk County prosecutors have dropped all charges against Michael X. Wynn of Attleboro because there were “conflicts” in the identification of the clothing, the car and the man accused of attempting to lure a young Cohasset girl to his car. It was not Wynn.

One report said if Wynn were the perpetrator, Cohasset PD arrested him on the wrong charge. Another report questioned why Cohasset PD didn’t check his monitoring device.

Wynn does have a police record and he was wearing a monitoring device while delivering the Patriot Ledger in Cohasset, but prosecutors said Wynn was not where the young girl said she was approached.

Wynn has spent approximately 15 days in jail. He will be released.

We suppose you will be reading about this on one of Quigley’s myriad Web and Facebook pages – when he gets around to it. At present he is fawning over himself on Citizens for a Safe Cohasset Facebook Page, where priority photos of Quigley and the police department are being utilized, and where only nice comments can be published.
