Registration is now taking place at The Art Complex Museum for the following programs. On October 25, from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m., a “Kids Try-It Workshop” with Carolyn Daly Shed will offer students in grades one and older a chance to learn the basics of pottery and create a unique hand-built piece. Techniques such as creating pinch pots, coiling and slab-building, texturizing and attaching decorative elements will be taught. Students will underglaze their pieces and leave them to be kiln fired. From October 29 until December 3, well-known local artist Laura Tryon Jennings will give a six week session during which each student is given individual attention to work on what best suits their particular needs. Themes are discussed allowing participants to paint what they are drawn to. Learn the basics of oil painting materials, the foundations of color theory, color mixing, composition, and critique. All levels can benefit. All supplies will be provided. Feel free to bring your own supplies if you prefer.
