The Mission Statement of Weymouth Town Council

The enabling legislation is the law voted on by the three towns: Abington, Rockland, and Weymouth in 1998. This allows us to speak in one voice.

The Town Council serves as the legislative branch of the Town’s Government. The mission of the Council is to provide representation and leadership on behalf of the citizens of Weymouth. In this role the Council is responsible for approving Town ordinances and measures and supervising an independent review of the executive branch through an audit/oversight function. Additionally, Councilors are available to assist citizens or concerns which they may have.

The enabling legislation is the law voted on by the three towns: Abington, Rockland, and Weymouth in 1998. This allows us to speak in one voice.
Weymouth Council allows a private developer to come in and run roughshod over OUR laws. Why is this law not on the Weymouth web site?
The job of SSTTDC (South Shore Tri-Town Development Corporation) is to work for the benefit of the three towns (At no cost) . Why do you not follow your mission statement? Remember (NO COST).
Your statement states you are available to assist citizens with any questions they may have? With this Council this occurs only with certain people, I thought you represented all the people.
When are the towns going to be able to approve the new legislation?
When are they going to get to approve to rescind the re-use plan and master plan? We would like to know.
This Council was told nine years ago we would receive $6 to $11 million dollars from LNR. Now Starwood/LNR are telling us after the legislation is approved?
Why have you not questioned this? LNR/Starwood are one and the same.
Starwood/LNR owes about $110 thousand in water & sewer bills going back to July  2013.
As a ratepayer if I am 60 days late on my bill you can put a lien on my property. Why have these delinquent bills going back to 2013 been allowed?
These are important to the taxpayer while you are giving away the store to a private developer.
Councilors Lacey & McDonald are very concerned about the water. Why have you not brought this to the public’s attention. Mr. Lacey has been on Council for 14 years, and Mr McDonald was part of previous history in the town.
When a citizen at large stands out to make a point of order to the President of the Council Patrick O’Connor to have all Councilors shut off their phone and they leave them on while a Consultant from LNR is texting questions to them during a Q & A.
Weymouth voters deserve more.
