Sunday, Nov. 29 – Holly Days in Duxbury

If you have seen the colorful posters by Don Reed Designs now distributed throughout the town, you know that Holly Days will be happening the Sunday after Thanksgiving on November 29, noon until 4 p.m. There will be activities planned to appeal to all age groups. Many of these are free or at a nominal charge. Stop off at Duxbury Marketplace to hear the high school Pacmen at 1:00 p.m. followed by David Hall, Magician at 1:45 and 2:45 p.m. and balloon artist at Rock Paper Scissors. Celar d’Or will offer refreshments. Donations for the Lion’s food pantry may be made at Coldwell Banker where there is also a children’s activity offered.
At Foodies Plaza, demonstrations are offered from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Kerry Youngstrom’s “Gotta Dance”. The Post office offers passport applications from noon until 3:00 p.m. A performance of the Girls Scout Choir is scheduled for noon at Foodies..
Take advantage of a free photo with Santa at Duxbury Mortgage Services, at Halls Corner. Mike Halloran will be offering his delicious popcorn; Reeds Jewelers is sponsoring pony rides. Try some hair tinsel at the Beehive. Sample the cookies and hot chocolate at the deli or hot chili by the 99 restaurant, next to Santa. Sobran Real Estate will offer music and cookies. Make an ornament at Portside Real Estate or a special Christmas craft at Celebrations or Lineal at Nine Standish. Beach Bites is also offering refreshments. And children will make a holiday craft at Vantage Real Estate.
Holiday activities are scheduled at the Girl Scout House where the Girl Scout Choir will perform at 3:45 p.m. The Snug Harbor Chorus will add their wonderful musical renditions to the festive spirit at 1:00 p.m. at Snug Harbor. The Rural and Historic Society will hold an Open House and goat petting zoo at the Nathaniel Winsor House. Snug Harbor Fish and French Memories will offer chowder boules. And mulled cider will be available at Snug Harbor Wine. Both Portside and Movementum Real Estate will offer children’s activities. Chili tasting will be offered at Cornerstone Lodge where there will be a Christmas tree sale with free delivery.
At the student union, there will be hayrides by O’Connor Landscape, Karoke, a photobooth and a special Holly Daze Amazing Race; a children’s coloring contest is offered by Conway Real Estate At Millbrook, Far Fars is offering amazing caricatures from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Also offered in the Millbrook area is a children’s activity at Waterfront Realty. An Accapella group is scheduled to perform.and an open house and children’s activity at William Raveis Real Estate. The Duplex will offer a Christmas Obstacle Course. The Art Complex Museum has scheduled two puppet shows of their holiday classic, “A Christmas Carol” at 1:30 and 2:45 p.m.
A holiday craft fair will be held at the senior center where the boy scouts will sell Christmas wrreaths. And, don’t forget the Taste of Duxbury Raffle, new this year, with information available in the Holly Days Booklet.
Trolleys to connect venues in the various villages will be available at the following locations: Hall’s Corner, Foodies Plaza, The Marketplace, Duxbury Student Union, Millbrook/ Far Fars, Duxbury Duplex, The Art Complex Museum and the Senior Center
The traditional tree lighting at the town green is scheduled at 4:30 p.m. hosted by the Rotary Club. And, this year, there will be an evening Christmas concert at 5:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Church.
