SS Genealogical Society meets May 10

IrishThe May meeting of the South Shore Genealogical Society will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday May 10, 2014 at the John Curtis Free library, 534 Hanover Street (Rte. 139), Hanover, MA.

The program will be Irish Genealogy 202, or “six more ways to find your Irish ancestors”, presented by Thomas Toohey. Thomas is an experienced teacher and has pursued Irish genealogy for over 30 years, returning to Ireland 12 times in pursuit of the homes of his Irish ancestors.

In this program he teaches the method for researching passenger lists, place-name guides, cancellation books and the tithe books, and also introduces the method of doing collateral research. Some researchers find one “way” more helpful then others but everyone seems to get something out of this presentation.
