Selectmen to have police investigation results by June 18

Town Counsel, along with an independent investigator, will probe complaints by police officers with regard to their chief, and interplay between suspended Police Chief Mark DeLuca and Town Manager Michael Milanoski which resulted in DeLuca’s being suspended last week. Private Investigator Richard Sjoberg will assist Town Counsel Peter Barry in the internal investigation of the police department.

Cohasset Selectman Chair Paul Carlson said the result of the investigation would  be referred to the Attorney General’s office.

Milansoki said with regard to the probe that when he received a letter from DeLuca accusing him of interference in police department matters he had called the state police and reported both himself and DeLuca to that body. It is unclear if the State Police offered any advice or became involved.

DeLuca’s attorney, Jack Collins of the Mass Chiefs of Police Association, said he had spoken to Town Counsel briefly, last week, but it was unlikely he would hear from him or the Town until such point as the investigation had been completed.

In a related matter, Milanoski said the Board of Selectmen had received a letter from the District Attorney Office saying the Selectmen had not committed a criminal act regarding former Town Manager Mike Coughlin’s health records which ended up being published on a website.
