Looking for passionate rug hookers
One of the several openings at The Art Complex Museum on Sunday, September 21, will be for The Duxbury Rug Hookers. Members are a group of twenty women who are passionate about rug hooking. They live in several South Shore towns and meet regularly either at the museum’s Alden Studio or the Alden Barn in Duxbury to hook together and occasionally to exhibit. Individually their rugs have been shown in many museums. Collectively they hook one rug a year for the benefit of the Alden Kindred in Duxbury.
The Duxbury Rug Hookers hook in many different styles, using new and recycled wool fabric cut in strips of varying widths. Their stitches are big and small; their colors bright and muted, hand-dyed or off the bolt; their subjects varied. The exhibit at the museum’s Alden Studio Gallery will run from Sunday, September 21 to Sunday, September 28, Wednesday through Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Demonstrations will take place daily. The reception is scheduled from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m.© Copyright 2014 Tanna K, All rights Reserved. Written For: Tinytown Unleashed
