The October exhibit at South Street Gallery, the area’s premier gallery featuring local, regional and national artists, will feature paintings from and about the seacoast neighborhood of Hingham’s Crow Point by many local and regional plein-air artists.

Artists captured this beautiful neighborhood with breathtaking water views throughout August and September, and then they will submit their paintings to South Street Gallery for the opening event which will take place at the Gallery on Friday, September 26 from 6 to 9 pm. The “Paint Crow Point” exhibition will be on display throughout October 2014.

Many artists have contributed to the Crow Point selection, including Nancy Sargent Howell, Margaret McWethy, Dianne Panarelli Miller, Sergio Roffo, and Vcevy Strekalovsky.

This “Paint Crow Point” is the latest in a series of neighborhood programs put forth by South Street Gallery. In the past, they have featured “Paint the Center,” “Paint World’s End,” “Paint the Square,” and “Paint the Neighborhoods.” These have been plein-air events, from the French phrase En plein air, meaning “in the open air,” used to describe the act of painting outdoors, blending the unique combination of fresh color, accurate values, and real life based compositions.  Many of the Crow Point paintings on display capture the picturesque seascapes as well as homes. So, it’s possible that visitors to the Gallery might see their own residence in one of the paintings that has been recently produced – or if not, certainly a familiar scene or two!

South Street Gallery is located at 149 South Street in Hingham.  Hours are from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
