Memorial Service for R.M. Campbell to be held April 5 in Cohasset

R. Murray Campbell  (Ronald Murray) passed away on March 10, 2014, at the age 92.

A memorial service will be held at the Second Congregational Church in Cohasset, MA on Saturday, April 5, at 11:00 AM. Contributions may be made to the Second Congregational Church, 43 Highland Avenue, Cohasset, MA 02025 in his memory.

Campbell was born December 30, 1921 In Goderich, Ontario, Canada to Lillian Elizabeth Campbell and Gordon Campbell. He spent his teen years in Ottawa, Canada and graduated from Glebe Collegiate High School. Campbell served in the Canadian Armoured Corps 1940 to 1945. Commissioned as Lieutenant in 1944, he served in the European Campaign 1944-1945. Ronald graduated post war from Queens University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada as a Mechanical Engineer. He was employed on design and project management of nuclear power plants, mostly with Stone and Webster Engineering Corporation of Boston and prior to 1955 with Canadian companies.

Campbell was President of the Lightkeepers’ Corporation for twelve years and past President of the Cohasset Dramatic Club. He was co-founder and past President of Massachusetts Voice of Energy. Former Deacon of the Second Congregational Church of Cohasset, he volunteered for Friends in Service to Humanity (FISH) and Meals On Wheels for the Social Service League. He was also a long-term member of the Republican Town Committee and an avid reader and prolific writer.

Predeceased by wife of sixty years Mary Aileen McIntosh and brothers Keith and Bill Campbell of Ottawa, Canada. Survived by daughters Linda Jane Campbell of Cromwell, CT, Janet Susan Campbell and grandson John Douglas Campbell of Kingston, MA.
