It’s pretty easy to eliminate ribald commenters from any blog…if you really want to

Another newspaper recently whined that it’s virtually impossible to stop people from logging in via a variety of names and how helpless that newspaper is to stop it from happening.

Tinytown Unleashed has worked diligently to stop anonymous commenters from having a lot of ribald fun with town officials and civilians in the Cohasset community.

There are currently over 6,000 people registered on our site.

Only 109 of them can read and comment on our site.

The bulk of the people registered on our site HAVE NO ROLE (are blackballed) on our site. That’s because they sign in with weird names, no names, or names that give one pause.

You should not be deceived, little grasshopper, by newspapers that say they are helpless to stop anonymous commenters from calling you crazy, a horse thief, or worse.

We’ve noticed that those newspapers take comments down pretty quickly when their very favorite people are mentioned in that vein. Not so much when it’s the rest of us.

As for Cohasset’s acting town manager’s complaint that Tinytown Unleashed hurts his feelings a lot:

Well, at least we do it under our own name. We don’t call ourselves Cohasset007 or frozenturkeys for all. Everything we blog happens at the selectmen’s meeting, every week.

We are truly sorry that Selectman Diane Kennedy gets nasty e-mails and phone calls. If she does, they are certainly not from us. If she hears herself discussed at French Memories maybe it’s because she’s a newsmaker…the closest thing we have in Cohasset to royalty.

Tinytown “Unleashed” – as if it ever was harnessed – has a spine that few ‘blo[b]s’ can show. Its threads (nerves?) are kept on target. Cohasset of late is especially well served!

Is anyone stopping the acting town manager from blogging on this site? You ae right Tanna, a newspaper can remove an offensive comment by an unknown commentator. They can go even further by not posting the offensive comment in the first place.

As part of my lawsuit, we will deposing a number of town officials under oath– among other matters we will be asking two questions:
    1) Do you blog or post commentary
    2) If yes– what are your screen names and your IP addresses

I can’t wait to depose Peter DiCaprio, Mr and Mrs Lee Jenkins, Steve Gaumer, Mike Milanoski and others who have yet to respond to our request to produce documents.

This may take some time since litigation is slow but for some bloggers, you can run but you can’t hide from the judge and if it is later found that they lied under oath then…

But why wait– the selectmen should act immediately starting with the Acting Town Manager and the Board itself. In the upcoming debate, all candidates for selectmen should be asked the question as well as candidates for chief– and if it is later found that these candidates were not truthful then…
