Will wonders never cease.
Two years ago at this time Selectman Martha Gjesteby’s board and the acting town manager were accusing Gjesteby of criminal violations. (Gjesteby was found innocent, but her board and the acting town manager were found guilty of breaking the open meeting law.)
At last night’s meeting (3-20) Town Manager Chris Senior, Selectmen and town employees held an impromptu surprise party – cupcakes and yellow tulips galore, and a gift card to boot.
Fire Chief Bob Silvia was in charge of the fire on the candles. He made sure Gjesteby blew out every candle with no smoldering embers remaining to catch fire and burn down the town hall, although they’re talking about demolishing town hall anyway.
The Gjesteby presentation wasn’t on the agenda, so we’re not sure if this was legal. .
Everybody likes this new, kinder-to-one-another board of selectmen (at least in public), the shorter meetings. We hope they keep up the laughter and smiles and celebrate many more birthdays.
And thanks to Town Manager Chris Senior for his steady hand on the helm of this ship.
