DEP Accepts Cat Dam Appeal, Cohasset, MA

DEP Accepts Cat Dam Appeal

by Tanna Kasperowicz

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) notified petitioners today that they have accepted the appeal (DEP Accepts Cat Dam Appeal) and scheduled a site visit for Thursday, September 1 at 2 p.m.

The Town of Cohasset will be represented as the applicant and the Cohasset Conservation Commission will be in attendance. All discussion will take place on site (Cat Dam at Nichols Road) and the applicant will present its case first; the Conservation Commission will explain why they decided in favor of the E20’s Notice of Intent.

Petitioners will then outline the plan as approved and show that it does not meet the Wetlands Protection Act (WPA) performance standards and therefore does not protect the wetlands. Steve Brown, a Cat Dam abutter, is spokesman for the petitioners.

It should be noted that petitioners filed their appeal last Thursday, August 4 and received notification that their appeal was accepted on Tuesday, August 9.
